Stage 5

Establishing the second floor

The Staircase

Make a frame Fig. 1 using 1/2" x 3/4" timber to create the wall for the staircase.  Make a doorway on both ends of the wall, one incoming one outgoing.  Create a second staircase same as first floor to finish in the attic.

The Vestibule

Create a wall both sides of the empty space that rises from the ground as in Fig. 2, each wall to have a door at the far end to allow people through from each bedroom over the walkway and into the next bedroom.  Create a banister across the hallway.  You will see in Fig. 3 that the both walls end in line with the outside walls of the building, (where the clamps are).

Beams

Create a set of beams to suit your design as you will see in Fig.4

Walls

As with all the walls within the building they are all covered with flooring underlay and then eventually plastered.  See fig. 5

Topping off

When you are complete on the second floor, finish of the same a s with the first floor.  13/4" x 1/4" all round finished with 3/4"sq as shown in Fig.6, then cut to suit a piece of 1/4" ply and fit.  Remember to measure and cut a hole ready to fit the staircase and banister.
