The Stairway
To create the stairway use 3/4" x 1/2" timber and a piece of 1/2" ply to join the two sections together, glue and clamp into position until dry.

Once dry prepare the walls to be fitted.

Are you ready to get Plastered?

Have you ever considered plastering? let alone a whole house?  Well even a house like this can be quite daunting and is not for the faint hearted.

Adding the wall panels

My choice for the wall panel interiors is 'fibreboard underlay' used on laying laminate floors  You can get this from most DIY places, the only downfall is it's quite expensive, unless you can get it in single sheets, (I couldn't), or you have some left over from laying some wooden laminate floor.  It will take around 2 sheets to complete.  But if you are going to do more houses then its worth investing.

You could of course use MDF if you wish, as I always say (the choice is yours).

Take a sheet of your fibreboard, place it behind the panel you want to fit.  Take a sharp pencil and mark out the area from the other side leaving an accurate plan of the panel you wish to fill.

Cut with a sharp Stanley knife or similar. Test to see if fits and leave it in place, if you don't, with so many panels to cut you will undoubtedly get mixed up.

Sealing Panels

Once you have cut all the panels you will need to seal them.  Take a section at a time and keep in the same order as you remove ready to replace.  Mix a 75% PVA to 25% water and paint the mixture onto your panels edges too, both sides, place in a sensible place (still in order) as they could well stick, remember its PVA which is glue.

Getting Plastered

Well it's time to get plastered, no sorry none alcoholic I'm afraid.  Mix up a small container about the size of a large butter container of undercoat plaster to a creamy mixture and apply to the one side of the panels and leave in a secure place to dry naturally.  Don't apply too thick but leave a sort of old world look. . . not an even surface.

Paint
  • Once each panel is perfectly dry paint with the colour of your choice, Magnolia white or your choice.
